At 20, Adam Idah is at a very early juncture of his club and international career.
And the Republic of Ireland and Norwich striker is conscious of the areas he needs to work on to take his game to another level, having experienced Premier League football over the last 18 months.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s FIFA World Cup qualifier against Portugal, the Cork native says it’s about all-round progression to his attributes.
“There’s loads of areas I can improve on. I can improve on my finishing, running in behind and my hold-up play I think,” he said.
“I’m not perfect at one in particular thing. For me, if I’m really being honest with myself, I have to improve on everything if I want to be the best.”
Idah explained that areas of particular focus during the summer were on his strength and fitness, while he is a participant in meetings involving the strikers at Norwich.

“I think in pre-season and the start of the league, I’ve shown a bit of that so that’s probably one of the main things that I’ve worked on during the summer,” he added of campaign in which he has had minutes in all of his club’s Premier League games thus far.
“But like I said, I think there’s lots of things I can work on and improve on each day.”
While Portugal will be heavy favourites to beat Ireland, especially on Portuguese soil, Idah does not believe trepidation should come into it from a Boys In Green point of view.

“None of us really have fear. There shouldn’t be any fear going into the game,” he said.
“You should be excited to play against these (teams). These are the moments that we’ve all dreamed of playing in, these big games playing against the best players in the world and the best teams. Honestly it’s just excitement.”
